The Locomotive - One Big Thing

November 21: Lifeline Expansion!

Mayor Mock, Councilman John Mesa, and I joined Dekalb County CEO Michael Thurmond, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, and LifeLine Animal Project CEO Rebecca Guinn for the groundbreaking of a state-of-the-art "pet neighborhood" at the DeKalb County Animal Services Center at 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Chamblee, Georgia. This $4.1 million expansion will include ten overflow units, which will house an additional 120 animals.

The first five units are expected to be in place by the end of March 2025, and the remainder will be opened in June 2025.

Approximately $2.5 million of the project is being funded by DeKalb County's second Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST II). The remaining $1.6 million was funded by the county general fund. More info can be found here.
