Catch up on all things Chamblee!

The Locomotive - One Big Thing:
Crime Stats
Last week, I included a snapshot of weekly crime statistics to provide a clearer, data-driven look at what’s happening in our community. This week, I'm sharing the monthly stats with the goal of making this information easy to understand. I believe transparency builds trust, and sharing these trends is one way to keep everyone in the loop. TL;DR Chamblee is very safe!

Arbor Day Celebration
The City of Chamblee celebrated Arbor Day by planting native Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) trees. Thanks to all who came out to lend a hand, or in this case, a shovel!

At the Station - Ongoing Events in Chamblee:
City of Chamblee Awarded Financial Accountability Award for 11th Year
The City of Chamblee has again received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
This is the eleventh consecutive year the City has earned the award, which is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized as a recipient of this award for the eleventh year,” said Julie Pero, Chamblee Finance Director. “Our mission is to provide effective stewardship over public funds and assets and to provide financial management leadership for the city government. We’re proud to continue building on a tradition of transparency and communication with the public.”
Chamblee’s comprehensive annual financial report for the 2024 Fiscal Year was reviewed by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

Citywide Stormwater System Survey & Assessment
Chamblee’s Stormwater Division has engaged a consulting team from Lowe Engineers, with a subconsultant, Atlas, to conduct a Citywide stormwater system survey and assessment. Field work is scheduled to begin in February 2026 and continue through October 2026.
Residents can expect to see field crews out with survey equipment, locating and documenting stormwater assets, such as inlets, manholes, and pipes, in the public right-of-way and from the street to the nearest outfall or stream. They will occasionally need to access private property for this purpose and will have identification.
Regular updates regarding the location of survey crews will be provided via social media. Questions can be directed to the Stormwater Division at stormwater@chambleega.gov.
