The Locomotive - One Big Thing:
Chamblee Real Time Grand Opening
The Chamblee Police Department proudly unveiled its new state-of-the-art Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), designed to enhance public safety through technology, data-driven policing, and real-time intelligence. A tour and demonstrations of the RTCC and Defensive Tactics Room were held for city staff and members of the media.
Demolition and construction of the Real Time Crime Center began in August 2025. The City of Chamblee invested $2 million-partially funded by a grant from the Governor's office, in the construction and equipment for the RTCC, which includes license plate readers, pan-tilt-zoom cameras, a video wall, computers, desks, and more.
The RTCC will serve as a centralized hub for Chamblee officers and neighboring agencies to monitor live camera feeds, analyze data, and share critical information in real time to support patrol officers and investigators in the field. The center allows for faster response times and more efficient investigations. I'll make a more in-depth post about the RTCC in the future with more detail on how it operates and how we protect our residents' privacy.

We were excited to join Skate ATL, Atlanta's premier skateboarding academy and now home to Chamblee's only skatepark, for their official ribbon-cutting! Skate ATL was founded by Allan Minter due to his daughter's love for skateboarding. Minter wanted to develop a program and community where not only kids but also adults and people from all walks of life can learn to skate, build confidence, and pursue their passions.
Skate ATL has three full-time instructors, all with glowing 5-star reviews! Join them for their grand opening on Saturday, March 21, from 1 pm-5 pm. Free entry. Olympic skateboarder Jacob Ilardi will be in attendance along with a taco food truck, live music, and entertainment.

Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop at all approaches and follow standard four-way stop rules. Thank you for keeping our community safe! Also, a temporary road closure will be in place at Pierce Drive and Peachtree Boulevard starting Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and will reopen by the end of the workday on Friday, April 10, 2026. Sidewalk Closure on Peachtree Blvd.
Beginning Wednesday, February 11, there will be a sidewalk closure along Peachtree Boulevard in place from Malone Drive to Miller Drive as part of the Peachtree Boulevard Water Transmission Main Replacement Project Phase II. The work in this area will take approximately eight weeks to complete. No pedestrian traffic will be permitted along Peachtree Blvd from Malone Drive to Miller Drive for this duration. "Sidewalk Closed" signs will be installed per the attached map, and the work zone will be barricaded to prevent anyone from walking through.

Citywide Stormwater System Survey & Assessment
Chamblee’s Stormwater Division has engaged a consulting team from Lowe Engineers, with a subconsultant, Atlas, to conduct a Citywide stormwater system survey and assessment. Field work is scheduled to begin in February 2026 and continue through October 2026.
Residents can expect to see field crews out with survey equipment, locating and documenting stormwater assets, such as inlets, manholes, and pipes, in the public right-of-way and from the street to the nearest outfall or stream. They will occasionally need to access private property for this purpose and will have identification.
Regular updates regarding the location of survey crews will be provided via social media. Questions can be directed to the Stormwater Division at stormwater@chambleega.gov.
