GDOT Upcoming Resurfacing Projects
GDOT contractors completed weekend lane closures on SR 13/Buford Highway from April 10–13 to launch a $5.6 million resurfacing project between the Fulton/DeKalb County line and Chamblee Tucker Road. This work is underway to provide a smoother, safer driving experience and improve overall road conditions, with completion anticipated in late summer 2026. During the work, two left lanes were temporarily closed in both directions.
Over the same weekend, crews also completed overnight lane closures on I-85 to continue resurfacing efforts between the I-75/I-85 Brookwood Interchange and Clairmont Road. Two right lanes and the shoulder were temporarily closed on I-85 northbound between Exit 86 and Exit 87, helping move this important infrastructure project forward.

Road Closure Alert
Chamblee’s Stormwater Division will conduct a pipe repair at 2708 Frontier Trail, which started last week. There will be a lane closure on Frontier Trail. The repair is expected to take three weeks to complete.

Malone Drive Closure Resumes on April 15
Beginning Wednesday, April 15, Malone Drive will be closed to through traffic for approximately four weeks, barring any weather delays. The project will require a road closure to continue the replacement of the water lines that are part of the Peachtree Boulevard Water Transmission Main Replacement Project.
Construction hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. An increase in construction-related noise and traffic during work hours should be expected.
During this closure, detour signage will be installed to guide traffic along alternate routes.
Motorists traveling northeast on Peachtree Boulevard can continue to Miller Drive and follow signs redirecting them to Peachtree Road and back to Malone Drive.
Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist local traffic in moving safely around the road closure. Construction crews will work to minimize impact on motorists.
Information about the Peachtree Boulevard Water Transmission Main Replacement Project can be obtained by calling the DWM Project Information Line at 1-800-986-1108 or emailing projectinfo@dekalbcountyga.gov with questions.

Beginning Wednesday, February 11, there will be a sidewalk closure along Peachtree Boulevard from Malone Drive to Miller Drive as part of the Peachtree Boulevard Water Transmission Main Replacement Project Phase II. The work in this area will take approximately eight weeks to complete. No pedestrian traffic will be permitted along Peachtree Blvd from Malone Drive to Miller Drive for this duration. "Sidewalk Closed" signs will be installed per the attached map, and the work zone will be barricaded to prevent anyone from walking through.

Citywide Stormwater System Survey & Assessment
Chamblee’s Stormwater Division has engaged a consulting team from Lowe Engineers, with a subconsultant, Atlas, to conduct a Citywide stormwater system survey and assessment. Field work is scheduled to begin in February 2026 and continue through October 2026.
Residents can expect to see field crews out with survey equipment, locating and documenting stormwater assets, such as inlets, manholes, and pipes, in the public right-of-way and from the street to the nearest outfall or stream. They will occasionally need to access private property for this purpose and will have identification.
Regular updates regarding the location of survey crews will be provided via social media. Questions can be directed to the Stormwater Division at stormwater@chambleega.gov.
