Announcements and Presentations

Council Dog of the Month

The name is Ninety, but LifeLine Animal Project gives him a hundred for looks and personality. He's a handsome boy with soft fur you'll enjoy petting. He has floppy ears and is friendly with other dogs. He's also a fan of toys and affectionate with people. Make Ninety your new family member today! More info on how to adopt can be found HERE.

Ordinances – First Read

Several zoning and text amendment items were introduced:

  • Hardee Avenue (3297 & 3289): Zoning-related cases introduced for consideration

  • Chamblee Tucker Road (2816, 2820, 2822, 2824): Additional zoning case introduced

  • UDO Amendment: Updates related to beauty salons, microblading, and permanent makeup

  • Electric Vehicle Parking Ordinance: Proposed standards for EV parking infrastructure

These items will return for a second read and a final vote at a future meeting, as required by state law.

Staff Action Items

Chamblee Safety Action Plan

Council APPROVED the adoption of the Chamblee Safety Action Plan as part of the USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All program. This plan focuses on reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries, helping guide future infrastructure and safety investments across the city.

Chamblee-Dunwoody Road Roundabout

Council APPROVED authorizing easements with Georgia Power to relocate power poles for the Chamblee-Dunwoody Road roundabout project. You can read more about this project HERE.

2800 Northeast Expressway

Council APPROVED a variance request to move a dumpster enclosure. This was actually approved before, but DeKalb won't pick up from the location that was approved due to proximity to the access road.

1700 Century Circle

Council APPROVED adding a third sign to this building, which has a unique shape.

Hardee Avenue (3297 & 3289)

Variance requests for these properties were DEFERRED to the April City Council Meeting. Why? The properties must first go through the rezoning process, which requires two readings before Council can take final action on the variances.

Hardee Avenue & 4th Street

Council considered a group of variance and waiver requests tied to an affordable housing development, which was APPROVED. I want to be clear—this is not Section 8 housing. This is workforce housing, meaning it is designed for residents like teachers, police officers, and firefighters.

This project is perfect example of the equitable housing policies in Chamblee. I recognize that Chamblee’s growth must be inclusive. I've supported affordable housing projects that ensure everyone, regardless of income, can find a safe and comfortable in our home. This approach helps maintain the city’s diversity and vibrancy.
