Announcements and Presentations

City of Chamblee Sustainability Roadmap Presentation

I've been looking forward to this presentation all year! We all know that sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it’s about protecting our future. That’s why we partnered with McKisntry to map out how to make our city operations more eco-friendly, from energy-efficient buildings to cleaner vehicles. This isn't just about checking boxes; it's about creating real, measurable change that benefits our community now and in the future.

The main focus of this project is simple: we want a step-by-step plan that moves the needle on sustainability for Chamblee’s buildings, fleet vehicles, and infrastructure. But we’re not stopping there. This plan will help us get the most bang for our buck, ensuring we make smart investments that deliver significant environmental benefits and ROI. McKinstry outlines how implementing this plan will save the City and its residents money. Please watch the presentation in the video link above - it's short but informative - and let me know your thoughts.

Additionally, here is a video I did in my sustainability in Chamblee.

Public Hearings

1909 Chancery Lane – Stream Buffer Variance

The applicant wants to build a sunroom for their growing family. The sunroom encroaches in the stream buffer protection zone, requiring a variance from the Council.

3443 Keswick Court – Stream Buffer Variance

Another project that infringes on the in-stream buffer protection zone. This one is rather complicated as there is a significant slope in the yard, the project is near completion, and the work was started without a permit. Additionally, there isn't a demonstrated hardship, a core requirement to grant relief.

Staff Action Items

Purchase of New Bucket Truck

Our Public Works department has requested a new bucket truck as the current one is unsafe due to age and wear.

Comprehensive Plan Update Adoption

The final Comp Plan was presented to the Council for adoption. The Comp Plan is the roadmap the city will use as a guiding document for the next five years. By state law, we are required to update the plan every five years and thank you to all who worked to put this plan together. Read the plan here.
