In January, City Council voted on signing an MOU with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CR) to install two in-stream trash traps in the waterways in Chamblee.
Late last week, CR installed the first trap in Arrow Creek, which runs through Dresden Park. Arrow Creek is a tributary for The Chattahoochee River, so the trap will prevent plastic and other waste from entering the Hooch. CR will clean, maintain, and provide feedback on the trash collected in the trap back to the city.
Cox Enterprise sponsored and paid for the trap, so thank you to that organization. The cost to the city: zero. Hopefully, this is the first of many environmentally sustainable projects I can help bring to Chamblee.
