Below is my recap of the latest Council Meeting with my thoughts, which don't represent the Mayor or the rest of the Council.

Public Hearing
2803 Shallowford Road NE - The applicant currently uses the location as a commercial property and requested variances to use the basement as their primary residence. Staff is recommending approval with conditions.
3472 Chamblee Dunwoody Way - This is the old Translation Station building, and the owner submitted plans to extend the parking lot to accommodate a new bookstore and a food and beverage establishment. Staff is recommending approval with conditions.
4042 Parson Drive - This is a major modification of the approved Development of Community Impact project by the Toll Brothers. The applicant has asked for a reduction in density and omitting the building of a parking deck. The changes are for financial reasons. Staff is recommending approval with conditions.
Fun fact: this was the first project I approved when I joined Council. It’s almost three years to develop, and I'm unsure when it will open!
Public Hearing Non-Zoning - Second Public Hearing
We held our second Public hearing on the updates to the Compressive Plan. The first draft will be submitted on August 29, and the final draft will be presented to the Council in September.
Staff Action Items
Resolution to Abandon the ROW on Beverly Drive, Reeves Street, and Lu Juan Drive to Dekalb County - Some great news! LifeLine Animal Project/Dekalb Animal Services plans to enlarge the current facility, which is drastically over capacity. How is Chamblee helping? The expansion requires Chamblee to abandon the Right of Way for those roads so the facility can expand. These three roads are what are called “paper roads.” They exist on maps and are not active roads, so making this decision is a no-brainer. We are also working on expediting all the permits needed for the project.
1305 Burk Drive - This was also deferred from last month’s session. The applicant failed to build a sunshade on the parking deck. Planning and Development has been working with the applicant to find options that will offset this miss of an important sustainability measure.
1307 Keswick Lane - This was also deferred from last month, and the applicant submitted plans to add a pergola to their home. The applicant asked for a withdrawal without prejudice.
