The Locomotive - One Big Thing:

Hispanic Heritage Month - Honoring Chamblee's Own: Manuel Barcenas

We're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring Chamblee's Own and my friend, Manuel Barcenas. If you have been to a Chamblee event, you've seen our volunteer of the year! He also serves as a "trusted voice" to those within the Hispanic community.

Left the Station - This Past Week's Events:

September 20: Chamblee Chalk Walk

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for the 4th Annual Chalk Walk! I’m always amazed by the incredible talent on display, and our community’s artists truly bring the sidewalks to life. This year, I had the honor (and challenge!) of serving as a judge, even though I’ll admit, I know very little about art. Congratulations to all the winners! Our amazing PR team put the following video together.

September 21: DeKalb County Municipal Election Voter Engagement Event

This nonpartisan town hall was created to encourage civic engagement, inform voters, and empower DeKalb families to make their voices heard in this November’s elections. The event was hosted by the LGBTQ+ Caucus of the DeKalb County Democratic Committee and welcomed candidates from Atlanta, Brookhaven, Doraville, and other nearby cities. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Chamblee is a community built on respect and connection, and I’m committed to keeping our conversations constructive and forward-looking. We are a city of civility, and together, we can continue to set the standard for how neighbors, leaders, and communities should work together.

Additionally, I’m proud to have the support of Georgia Conservation Voters, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to protecting Georgia’s environment, advancing clean energy, and shaping policies that create a sustainable future.

Their mission reflects the values I want to see in Chamblee: growth that never comes at the expense of our natural resources and a future where healthier communities and sustainability go hand in hand.

This endorsement is bigger than my campaign; it’s a statement that together, we can build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future for Chamblee.

Thank you to Georgia Conservation Voters for the honor.

-Jimmy
