The Locomotive - One Big Thing:

May 28: CPD Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting

During the CAC, Chief Dieppa shared the following commendation: On Sunday, February 2, 2025, around 12:30 p.m., Officer Asberry observed a black 2024 Jeep Cherokee with illegal window tint exiting the Deco parking deck at Malone Drive and Peachtree Boulevard. A traffic stop was initiated on Miller Drive.

Upon approach, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana. Backup was requested. When asked to exit the vehicle, the driver refused, reached for an object, and attempted to flee. The officer, fearing for safety, entered the vehicle as it moved and successfully stopped it after approximately 150 feet.

The driver resisted arrest and became combative. With assistance from additional units, the subject was eventually taken into custody. A loaded Glock 40 was found on his person. A vehicle search revealed approximately 758 grams of suspected marijuana, five bottles of promethazine, 95 Percocet pills, 17 Oxycodone pills, and $3,150 in cash.

Eleven arrest warrants were obtained. The officer’s quick response prevented a potentially dangerous situation and ensured public safety. Thank you, Officer Asberry, for your service and for keeping Chamblee safe!

Safe Streets for All: Safety Action Plan Chamblee’s Public Works Department is launching a transportation Safety Action Plan, which will aim to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways by fostering a proactive, data-driven, and inclusive approach to transportation safety.

Chamblee was awarded a grant as part of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, which funds initiatives to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. The Chamblee Safety Action Plan will analyze crash data, assess roadway risks, and gather stakeholder and public input to identify transportation safety issues and develop specific, implementable projects and strategies to advance safe travel for all users of Chamblee’s transportation network.

We want to hear from you!

Where do you feel unsafe traveling around our city? What safety improvements do you think are needed? Visit our interactive website and learn more about the project, take a brief survey, leave feedback on an interactive map, and stay up-to-date on the Safety Action Plan.

What in the world are you thinking revoking the alcohol license of Chamblee Tap & Market? This place has become the heart of Chamblee in the past year, and if you or the city were to shut it down you would be doing tremendous damage to downtown Chamblee. There's nothing like it anywhere nearby, and it is an establishment unique to Chamblee and Atlanta. It fosters community and gathering. The ever expanding red tape that the city is pushing is ridiculous. Make this right and leave them alone.
