The Locomotive - One Big Thing:
As promised, here is my recap from last month's Council meetings. A few highlights below:
Approved contracts for the Real Time Crime Center and the Public Works building.
Honored our 911 Dispatchers and our Chamblee 101 graduating class.
Lifeline and the Georgia Pet Coalition gave presentations.
The Hilton Garden Inn on Clairmont was approved.

Week of April 13: Chamblee Restaurant Week
I put on so much weight this week! I visited the Downwind at PDK airport for the first time, and what a view!
April 19-20: Chamblee Art Fest
I attended both days of this amazing event. I picked up two signed books by a fantasy author who had a booth at the fest. I'm a nerd ;) Did you buy something fun? Show me what you bought at the Art Fest in the comments!

New Business Alert! Wild Aster Books
Wild Aster Books has opened downtown! It is behind BlueTop, and the fanstay/sci-fi selection is top-notch. Did I mention I was a nerd? For more info, click here.

Arriving Soon - Upcoming Events in Chamblee:
April 26: Trash Dash
Keep Chamblee Beautiful and the City of Chamblee are hosting the 2nd Annual Trash Dash — a fun and competitive event where teams race to see who can collect the most trash around Chamblee. The team that picks up the most wins the grand prize!
Additional prize categories will be announced the morning of the event, and there will be random prize drawings, so everyone has a chance to win something!
I’m a team captain again this year and still have spots open on my team. If my team fills up, don’t worry — there are plenty of other teams looking for volunteers. Come join the fun and help keep Chamblee beautiful!
8:30 Arrival / Captains Draw for Collection Areas / Review of the Rules / Team Strategizing Â
9:00 - The TRASH DASH begins!Â
11:30 All teams and their trash report back to Arrow Creek Park (Chamblee Public Works and KCB volunteers will help with this)
11:30 - 12:30 Free lunch/judges weigh and evaluate trash / Awards ceremony (over $300 in prizes will be given away!)

April 20 - 26: Georgia Cities Week
The City of Chamblee will celebrate "Georgia Cities Week". The city will host a variety of events to showcase its services. Cities across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA).
