Below is my recap of the latest Council Meeting with my thoughts, which don't represent the Mayor or the rest of the Council.

Announcements and Presentations
John Maximuk, Chamblee's Director of Planning & Development, presented on the Permit Power Hour.

Public Hearings
2580 Northeast Expressway - The applicant proposes adding a ~ 4k sq. ft. warehouse to the property for storage. Variances are needed to reduce parking and to encroach into the buffer.
3285 Shallowford Road NE—The applicant proposes constructing a ~2k sq. ft. office building, and Variances are needed to reduce parking and encroach on the buffer. This site is zoned NC-1, which allows for residential and commercial properties. I bring this up because a home used to be on this site, which burned down in 2021.
Public Hearings - Non-Zoning
Staff Reports
Draft Comprehensive Plan Update - The Mayor and Council were presented with the Draft Comprehensive Plan, the roadmap the city will use to help make decisions for the next five years. This plan was created with feedback from the steering committee, Mayor and council, and, most importantly, residents. You can read the draft here.
Old Business
Low Impact Film Ordinance Amendment—This was passed a few months ago, and we are cleaning up the language. It will allow filming without a permit. However, the city will still need to be informed.
Staff Action Items
2025 Benefits Renewal - In short, we reviewed the benefits options for City Staff. We are facing a ~8% increase year over year.
Woodacres Property Master Plan - I love this plan. It has a minimal impact on the property, keeping it as natural as possible.

Village Park Turf Field Improvements Project Bid Award - We received a grant to update the playing surface at the park to artificial turf. If you visit the park, you can see how badly this upgrade is needed. With all the soccer being played, the natural grass is virtually gone. This upgrade will allow for play all year long.
