City Council Regular Meeting

Agenda – April 16, 2024 – 6:00 PM


One BIG thing: We are bringing glass recycling to Chamblee! Council APPROVED contracting with a private company to place a glass recycling bin in the Public Safety building's parking lot. Furthermore, we are talking with private businesses about adding more locations in the city. More to come!

Chamblee 101 – 2024 Graduation

We celebrated the graduation of the 2024 Chamblee 101 class. As a proud graduate, I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of Chamblee and foster a stronger sense of community. More info can be found using this link.


National Public Safety Telecommunications Week 

We celebrated our 911 operators with a proclamation honoring their work. Thank you all for what you do!

Approval of Minutes

Last month's council meetings and the DDA special called meeting minutes were APPROVED as presented.


New Business 

Ordinances – 1st Read

Millage Cap Amendment

APPROVED and moved to first read. The city charter currently provides that the millage rate imposed for ad valorem taxes cannot exceed eight mills. The proposed amendment would clarify that the ad valorem millage rate associated with general obligations bonds and other special assessments does not count toward the millage rate limit for regular ad valorem taxes.


Staff Action Items  

Peachtree Blvd Realignment & Gateway ARC TIP Application & Chamblee Tucker Multiuse Path ARC TIP Application

Council APPROVED placing the Peachtree Blvd Realignment as the highest priority in our Application for TIP funding from the ARC. The Chamblee Tucker Multiuse Path is still included in our application for funds but is behind the realignment project.


Broad Street Streetscape

DEFFERED to May. The council had questions regarding the staff's recommendation to do this work on timing and cost. 

 

Public Facilities Authority (PFA) Reimbursement Resolution

APPROVED. More information about the PFA can be found in my recap of this month's work session meeting.


Q4 2023 Budget Amendment & Q1 2024 Budget Amendment

Real-Time Crime Center (Phase One)

Discover Chamblee Advisory Committee Appointments

Council APPOINTED Barrett Madrigal to this committee. He has an extensive background in marketing and will be an asset. Barrett was also a graduating member of this year's Chamblee 101 class. Double congrats!


PZ2024-1245: 4118 West Johnson Circle

The Council DENIED the variances to build a single-family home. I had environmental impact concerns with this project.


PZ2024-1258: 3715 Longview Drive
