KEY ISSUES
RIGHT SIZED GROWTH
Development has exploded in the past few years in Chamblee and is showing no signs of slowing down. The city has reached an inflection point on growth. Now is the time to think about what this growth will look like in the future. I've spoken with many of you, and this rapid growth has been a point of concern for most.
I will push for projects that have environmental sustainability in mind and that minimally impact traffic on our roadways. These projects must have amenities that we can enjoy, such as green space, trails, and sidewalks, further connecting the city. Additionally, I will push for development equity across the city and not just the areas currently seeing the most growth.
Lastly, I will move to increase housing availability and affordability within Chamblee.
SUSTAINABILITY
I'm truly passionate about this issue, as it is one that impacts so many people all over the world. I'm committed to sustainability as a key tenet of Chamblee’s growth. We face a climate crisis that will require direction and guidance across the country and the state. My vision for Chamblee sees us becoming a leader in sustainability in Georgia.

QUALITY OF LIFE
Quality of life is the last key tenet of my campaign. I will focus on mixed-use, walkable neighborhoods that emphasize social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
Additionally, I will ensure that we have the best parks in the state. See my Blog post on Parks and Rec to see what I have already done to improve our parks and what we can do in the future together.
ABOUT JIMMY
Jimmy Furst was first elected to the Chamblee City Council in November 2021 and began serving in January 2022. He was re-elected in November 2025 and began his second term in January 2026. During his first term, he served as Mayor Pro Tem for two years.
Jimmy has focused his work on environmental sustainability, responsible development, transportation connectivity, and improving quality of life throughout Chamblee. He led the effort to develop the City's Sustainability Roadmap and has supported investments in parks, trails, public spaces, and infrastructure. His approach to public service emphasizes transparency, community engagement, and ensuring that residents have opportunities to participate in decisions affecting Chamblee's future.
Jimmy serves on the Discover Chamblee Board of Directors, the City's Trail Master Plan Steering Committee, and the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, helping shape Chamblee's long-term vision for growth, development, and connectivity. He is also a board member of the Dresden Elementary School Education Foundation (DESEF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students, teachers, and families at Dresden Elementary School.
Before joining the City Council, Jimmy served as Vice President of the Dresden East Civic Association, Secretary of Keep Chamblee Beautiful, and a member of the City's Recreation Advisory Committee. He is also a graduate of Chamblee 101, the City's civic education program.
Professionally, Jimmy is a Senior Manager of Product Management at SmartSense by Digi, where he leads product teams developing technology solutions. His previous experience includes more than 20 years in the food and beverage industry, holding domestic and international leadership positions. He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Communications from Florida State University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Johnson & Wales University.
Jimmy and his wife, Destinie, have called Chamblee home since 2014. They share their home with their two rescue dogs, Bailey and Roxy.
